Louis & Charles Attorneys at Law traces its roots to a practice founded in 1978 by attorney Ya-Wen Chiu. Forty-eight years and a 2024 consolidation later, we are a litigation-first Taiwanese firm with deep benches in technology law and M&A. We are a member of Louis Group: in Taiwan we fight the domestic battles, and when a matter crosses borders, the group’s teams in Thailand and Vietnam pick up seamlessly. For international clients, that means one firm that can run your dispute, protect your IP and close your deal in Taiwan — in English.
Our chief lawyer, Raymond Yu, trained as an engineer before he trained as a lawyer. That background shapes how the firm works: every matter is broken down into verifiable steps — facts, evidence, procedure, risk — and built back up methodically. “An engineer’s rigor” is not a slogan here; it is the operating manual.
We also know that clients don’t need a recitation of statutes. They need decisions: whether to litigate, what a settlement is worth, how to draft a clause that will actually hold. We give recommendations, not just opinions.
Working from abroad? We regularly represent overseas clients in Taiwan proceedings — running the case locally and reporting in plain English, so distance is never the problem.
